Inky Stamper's Small Fry Box die by Cindy Bristow

Inky Stamper's Small Fry Box die
by Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

My friend Chelsea over at the Inky Stamper sent me this stinking cute Small Fry box die last week to play with and I just have to share one of the treat boxes I created with it.

You know me, I just had to vintage it up, so I started with coffee dying the cardstock I used.  After my cardstock was dry, I die cut the Small Fry box.

I stamped some vintage writing on it and glued a paper doily to the corner before I glued the box together.

This die also comes with 2 flower dies.  I cut out 2 of each of the sizes to make the flower on the left side.  This little box would be perfect at a table setting with a mint or two tucked inside.

Inky Stamper Dragonfly Trust Your Wings card by Cindy Bristow

Inky Stamper Dragonfly Trust Your Wings card
 by Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

Today I am super excited to be helping my friend Chelsea over at Inky Stamper launch her new line of stamps!

Isn't this dragonfly the cutest little guy?!!!

I started out stamping the dragonfly and the flower onto whip cream paper with black licorice ink.  Then I grabbed my water brush and just a few of my Distress Oxide ink pads... ok, maybe I grabbed 5 or 6 of them.  They are so much fun to watercolor with!  My background was also done with Distress Oxide inks.

I just love how this dragonfly looks iridescent once I added a light dusting of glitter to him.  I can see using him on baby cards also.

Head on over to the Inky Stamper and grab your very own Dragonfly stamp set HERE!!!

Ooh La La Coffee Tags by Cindy Bristow

Ooh La La Coffee Tags
 by Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

Today's share is a set of 3 Coffee tags I created for my Etsy shop.  I will include affiliate links if items are available.  If you click on the link and purchase the product, I will receive a small commission.

I started these tags by dying them with coffee and Stormy Skies Distress Oxide ink.  I like the grey tint it gave the tags.  I then stamped the tags with a French script stamp from my stash.  Next I glued down a piece of navy blue and gold patterned paper onto each tag.

The cup comes from a set called Le CafĂ©".  This set has some fun images in it, including the ooh la la.  I colored the cups with Color Burst Pencils.  The vintage lavender color is a swatch from my Coloring your Creative Journey class this month.  I mask my coffee cup and stamped a Unity stamp called "de France labels" using the Stormy Sky ink pad.
The final touches where adding the tassel trim from Prima and the Rich Gold Gem.  I love how everything just works so well together.

Cluster Faux Postage Stamp Tags by Cindy Bristow

Cluster Faux Postage Stamp Tags
 by Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

Today I wanted to share a few tags I just added in my Etsy shop.  Affiliate links are added to this post.  If you purchase through the link, I earn a small commission..

I tried something a little different with this set when I was coffee staining them.  I added a bit of Carved Pumpkin Distress Oxide ink  to the mix!  I am liking the hint of orange it gave to my tags.

I pulled out my Teflon mat, rubbed my inkpad face down on it and then diluted the color with coffee.   Then I ran all of my tags through the puddle of coffee and ink.

After all of my tags where dried, I started adding layers to create each tag cluster.  All of the tags where stamped, had patterned paper and vintage paper glued to them, got a bit of lace or ribbon, faux postage, and a bit of bling.

The set of 4 are available in my Etsy shop.

Mini Life is Beautiful Pocket Journal by Cindy Bristow

Mini Life is Beautiful Pocket Journal
 by Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

Today's share is a Mini Pocket Journal I finished over the long week end.  It is available over in my Etsy store listed in the side bar.  I will list affiliate links to items that are available.  Affiliate link means that if you click on the item and purchase it, I earn a small commission from the sale.

This mini was made with a vintage Nancy Drew book.  I covered both the front and the back of a piece of scrapbook paper with the book pages.  Both the front and back covers have vintage eyelet ribbon stitched to the edges.

I used one of my favorite butterfly sets, Small Things for the main image.  The sentiment comes from another one of my go to sets, Text Happy.

I used coffee stained papers for the simple 10 page signature.  Each of the pages has a different butterfly stamped on it.

I put a simple pocket and tag on the inside back cover for extra journaling space.

I also added a bit of Rose Gold Embossing  to the front cover, I love how it gives it a elegant feel.

Thanks for stopping by!

Red and Black Journal Pockets and Tags share by Cindy Bristow

Red and Black Journal Pockets and Tags share
by Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

I have a few more pages filled with pockets and tags from the back of my Red and Black Journal to share with you today.  I will try to give you links and names of products I used when I can.  The links are affiliate links which means if you click on the link and purchase the product, I earn a small commission.

These pages are from the back of the journal, I tend to flip back and forth when I work on a journal so that back part of the journal is as interesting as the front.

The left hand page is actually a flip that opens to the left, and the right hand page is a flip that opens to the top.

I added a small pocket made from a vintage book page to the top flip.  I glued and stitched it onto the page for added security.  Most of the embellishments I added to the pocket came from a grab bag destash I found on Facebook.  Destash grab bags are pretty fun, I got some cool things in the one I participated in.  The tags are embellished with scraps of patterned paper.

The left hand flip also has a small pocket stitched onto it.  It was another piece of ephemera I received in the destash box.  Both of the tags are left blank on the back side so you have more journaling spots.

This is the back side of the top flip.  I did not put a pocket or stash spot on this page because I am a little worried that gravity might make a tag or insert fall out.  I used my Stormy Skies Distress Oxide ink and my Ink Splat stamp to add a bit of interest to the journaling spot.  I also added one of the Travel flag stickers I shared yesterday.  They are on the clearance rack, so it's a really good deal if you like washi stickers.

This page is the one under the flip up page.  I used a old planner page for my base so you have plenty of room to write.  I also added a pocket/pull out spot with a tag.

Don't you love that tag?  It is from a vintage primary reader.  I adhered it to a piece of cardstock so it has some weight to it and has the blank back to write on.

The pull out opens two different ways.  The first way is for it to flip open.  I added a old calendar page to this side for more jouraling space.

Then you can pull it the other way for more journaling space.  It is attached on three sides so that your vintage primary reader tag slips into the pocket that was created.

I hope you enjoyed the walk through and thanks for stopping by,
Cindy

Red and Black Journal Butterfly Flip Page by Cindy Bristow

Red and Black Journal Butterfly Flip Page
 by Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

Today I am sharing one of the flip pages in my Red and Black journal that I am working on.  I will try and share as many links to products as I can.  These links are affiliate links which means that if you click on the link and purchase the product, I earn a small commission.

Last month I shared a tutorial on how to turn a Mini Album into a junk journal.  If you missed it, here is the link to the first post.  This is one of the 7 7/8" x 4 1/2" flips that I added to the mini album.

The black rose cardstock is one of my favorites, but is no longer available.  I have a few sheets of it left and have been hoarding it.  This piece was a scrap and as you can see it wasn't quite wide enough to cover the entire flip.  I added a strip of Candy Apple Red cardstock to cover what was left.

The red was really bright, so I toned it down by inking the edges with Vintage Photo Oxide Distressed ink  and then I stamped it with one of the small stamps from this stamp set using black ink

I also used another stamp from that set to stamp the center of the small doily flip I created.  The black ink looked really stark, so I grabbed my Stormy Sky Distressed Oxide ink pad, tapped a bit onto my acrylic stamp block and used a water brush to color the center of my doily.

My tag measures 7 1/2" x 2 3/4" and was made using a piece of white cardstock scrap.  I layered a piece of a vintage dictionary page on top of it and inked the edges.  I also collaged a few scraps onto it before I stamped the butterflies and script writing on it.  All of the stamps come from the etsy store I linked earlier in the post.  I still had a little of the Stormy Sky ink on my block, so I added a bit of water and ran the tag through it.  I like the distress look it made, plus it cleaned off my block!  After everything was dry, I took the tag to my sewing machine and stitched around the center with black thread.

Red and Black Junk Journal Layout Share by Cindy Bristow

Red and Black Junk Journal Layout Share
by Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

I started on a new junk journal towards the end of last week.  This journal's color scheme is going to be black and red and I wanted to share with you the first page and flip out.  I will try and share sources for items that are still available.  The links are affiliate links, which means if you click on the link and purchase the item, I earn a small commission from the sale.

Remember a few blog post ago when I said I had a bunch of those mini books in my stash?  I wasn't kidding... I had bought a ton of them to do classes with and never got around to it before I moved.  Thank goodness because they make a wonderful base for junk journals!

The right hand page is one of the flips that I shared in my turning a mini book into a junk journal series.

I created a belly band on the left so I would have a place to stuff that mini journal I shared on Instagram.  It is created using a piece of black and white patterned paper (this paper is on clearance for $5!!) that I layered onto 80lb cardstock so that it is nice and strong.

For the middle page, I used a page out of a planner that I had on hand.  I turned the corner up to create a flip to stash a few tags and journaling spots.

I create most of my embellishments by using things from my stash.  While I was looking up the black and white patterned paper, I found 2 other things I used on this page in the clearance section.  I used this Postage stamp stamp and one of the pennants from this sticker pack to embellish the large tag.

The right hand flip out page was done with retired paper and then I added some vintage book page to it.  I used a small doily to create the flip to hold a few more tags.

Mini Peonies Paper Bag and Tag by Cindy Bristow

Mini Peonies Paper Bag and Tag
by Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

Today I wanted to share a shabby chic styled mini bag and tag combo.  It is available over in my Etsy store if you wanted to purchase it, or you can follow along with my step by step to create your own.  I have included a few affiliated links to products that are available.  That means that if you click on the link and purchase the item, I receive a small commission.

I created the bag from packing paper(hold on to the stuff that your goodies come in!) using my Bag Sleeve die from Accucut.  After I glued it together, I tore a piece of coffee stained graph paper I had in my closet from when the kids where in school.  I knew I hung on to that stuff for a reasons!  I used black ink to stamp a   cancelled postage stamp all over my bag. I then wrapped Black Twine around my bag 3 times... got to do the wraps in odd numbers.   The Oval Die Cut  was cut from Pink cardstock.  I use the Spellbinders cardstock because it is smooth thick 80lb cardstock, perfect for stamping on and it holds up to coffee staining.  I also stitched around the pink oval before I glued it onto my bag.  The main flower is from a set called Wonderful Day by FSJ but it is no longer available... you might try looking it up on ebay or a buy sale group.  The background script is a stamp from Hobby Lobby. I added tiny pearls to the snippet of lace for that extra special touch.

The tag is cut from Cream cardstock that I had coffee dyed.  Notice that I used a hole enforcer on my tag- I try and put these on all of my tags so that the thread or ribbon doesn't pull though.  I first glued a torn piece of scrap cardstock to the top left corner and then used one of the label stamps from the Old Paperwork stamp set to stamp all over the background. ( I told you I got my money's worth out of that set).  The main flowers come from the Wonderful Day set that is no longer available.
See that little half circle with the foliage on it?  That stamp is on clearance and is called Embroidered Flowers by Donna Salazar, it comes with a die also, Bonus!!!!  I have been using it on several projects lately.

All of the images are colored with my  Color Burst pencils.

Cindy

Mini Envelopes with Faux Postage by Cindy Bristow

Mini Envelopes with Faux Postage
 by Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

Today I wanted to share some mini envelopes I have been working on. They are available in my Etsy store with the link in the side bar.  I have also include affiliated links in this post if you would like to make your own.  Affiliated links mean if you click on the link, purchase the item, I will receive a small commission.

Aren't they the cutest little things?

Each mini envelope was cut using the Memorabilia die from Accucut.  I cut them from a recycled paper bag.  I inked all of the edges using Vintage Photo Oxide ink

Each of the postage pieces where stamped with the ledger stamp from the Paper Work stamp set.  I have really gotten my moneys worth out of this set.

I stamped all of the flower pieces with a canceled postage stamp that I have had for years.

Most of the flower images come from the Cottage Bouquet stamp set.  The other flower images come from stamps that are no longer available.

The final step in stamping is to stamp you number on top of the image.  I use the small numbers from the Date Me stamp set.  After I have finished stamping, I color the flowers with Color Burst Pencils.  I really like these pencils because they are very smooth and creamy.

I layer the flower image onto a coordinated cardstock and ink the edges.  I wrap  Black Bakers Twine
around each of the envelops and tie it in a bow.  Each envelope also has a small journaling spot tucked inside that I have stamped with a Donna Salazar stamp called A Birdie Told Me.  If you like it and want it grab it now because it is on clearance and I'm not sure how long it will last!

I hope you enjoyed that walk through and thanks for stopping by!

Red Zinnias #2 Library Pocket and Tags by Cindy Bristow

Red Zinnias #2 Library Pocket and Tags
 by Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

Today's share is a lovely vintage style library pocket and tag set I created for my Etsy shop.  You can find the link over in the side bar.

This set started life out as a manila file folder, a old book, and some packing paper.  You have to love junk journaling!!!

Both the tags and the library pocket are cut using my Accucut machine.  Leave I comment if you would like me to start listing some of these die cuts in my shop so you can create your own pocket and tags.

I started out by coffee dying the tags and pocket.  This tag was stamped with the ledger stamp from the Paper Work stamp set from Prima.  Then I layered the scrap of red polka dot cardstock on it.  Next I set a black eyelet into tag.  Then I grabbed a piece of vintage book paper and stamped the Zinnia's from the Cottage Bouquet stamp set.  After I colored them, I tore the paper to fit my tag.  The final touches where the bits of ribbon, a button and twine to complete the tag.

The pocket was done in much the same way.  I stamped it with the Vintage Notes stamp set in black ink.  Next I cut a strip of brown wrapping paper and machine stitched the red polka dot cardstock onto it.  After I glued it to the front of the pocket, I wrapped it with black gingham ribbon and tied a bow.  I stamped and colored the zinnias on another piece of old book page.  Then I tore it, and layered it onto brown cardstock.  I stamped the number 2 onto a piece of craft cardstock, and attached it to the colored image with a black eyelet and tied it with some black twine.  All that was left was to glue it to my pocket!

All of the links included in this blog post are affiliate links, which means that if you click on the link, and purchase the item, I get a small commission.

Birds and Butterflies Tag pack by Cindy Bristow

Birds and Butterflies Tag pack
 by Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

Today's share is a lovely 4 pack of tags I created for my Etsy store.  There is a link in the side bar if you wanted to stop by and look around.

These four beauties started life as a vintage 1930's dictionary I found on one of my junking excursions.

I start out by gluing the dictionary pages onto cardstock using Craft glue.  I used patterned cardstock on these four, so they have dictionary paper on both sides.

Next I used Black ink to stamp images from the Wild and Free stamp set and the Small Things stamp set.  I used Distress Oxide Inks to color some of the images.

Each of the tags are embellished with ribbon or lace, gem stones and buttons.

Thanks for stopping by,
Cindy
