Make it an Adventure with PanPastels

Hello creative friends!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas full of festivities and love.  Are you getting ready for the New Year?  I know that I am...  2017 is starting with the selling of my home, the Fun Stampers Journey "Lead with Heart" conference, and them packing and moving to Virginia!!!! So, this card says it all, Make it an Adventure!

I have had my PanPastels for almost 6 months and have not shown them the love the deserve.  To remedy that, I pulled them out this morning and gave them some much needed love!!

If you haven't gotten any of these yet, you sooooo need them!  They are so smooth and creamy and spread just like butter, and blend together beautifully.  These are the 2 sets I used on this card.

Mother Nature PanPastels

Party Pop PanPastels

I created the background using the blues from the Party Pop set and the olive green from Mother Nature set.  The dots are Orange Rave Silk, I can't get enough of our Silks, EVERYTHING is better with Silk!  See the variegation on the sea weed?.... can you say eraser?!!!  Yes, you can erase PanPastels to create depth!!!  You would have thought?!!!

Sooooo, I hope each and everyone of you have a Happy New Year, and to choose to look at 2017 as a new Adventure!

Have and Amazing Day!
~Cindy~

Pretty Flakes

Hello Creative Friends.

Today's Christmas card is made with non-traditional colors.  I chose to use River Stone, Candy Apple, Oatmeal Cookie, and Whip Cream cardstock.  I just love how all of these colors work together.

The other thing that I love about this card is all the glittery goodness.  I used my white liner sheet on the Oatmeal cookie circle, dipped it into Sparkle Dust to use as a background for the largest snowflake.  All of the snowflakes are covered with Journey Glaze and given a dusting of Sparkle Dust.

Thanks for stopping by,
~Cindy~

Herald Angels

Hello Creative Friends.

I love when a stamp set can be used to make a simple but elegant card.  The Herald Angels stamp set is one of those sets.  When I first saw this set in the catalog I just had to have it!  I had visions of coloring the angels and sending out 100's of beautiful Christmas cards... then reality hit and I realized there was no way I could color that many cards and have them ready in time.  So I reworked my idea and came up with this elegant card.

The background is done using the darker of the blues from the Mother Nature Pan Pastel set.  I just used a sponge and swept the color on.  Then I took my Clear Embossing Ink pad and stamped the sentiment in the corner, covered it with Silver Embossing powder and zapped it with my heat gun.  On a separate piece of Whip Cream Cardstock, I stamped one of the angels in Clear Pigment ink, covered her with the Silver Embossing powder, zapped her and used the matching die to cut her out.  I love the fact that FSJ has so many stamp sets with matching dies!  I lightly colored her dress with the same blue Pan Pastel, hit her wings with the Silver Pan Pastel and popped her on the card.  Simple enough to repeat but very elegant looking.

Thanks for stopping by,
~Cindy~

Christmas Trim

Hello Creative Friends.

I have another quick Christmas card to share today.  This one is made with the Christmas Trim stamp set that is available until December 31 while supplies last.

I started by taking a piece of Whip Cream cardstock and using the green out of the Rich Sorbet Pan Pastels, gentle swiped my cardstock with the green.  I added more of the color to the top of the piece of cardstock.  Next I stamped the tree with Black licorice ink and colored the trim with my Color Burst pencil # 3.  I then cut the tree out.

I used my Oval dies and cut a piece of my patterned paper from the Tis the Season paper pack.   The sparkly light effect in the background is made with Silver Silk.  Silks add just the right amount of glitz to any project!

~Cindy~

Bethlehem Journey

Hello Creative Friends.
I am so glad that they brought back the Bethlehem Journey stamp set!  I hosted a stamp a stack at my house last week and this was one of the cards we created.

The background was shaded in using the Confectionary Days collection of Pan Pastels to give it a distant hazy look.    Mary and Joseph are colored with Color Burst pencils.  These are the Pencils I used to color them, 22, 23, 26, 37, 39, 42, and 43.    I fancy cut around them and popped them out to give it dimension.

Thanks for stopping by!

Lovely Day

Hello Creative Friends.

Today I want to share a few more Color Swatches for the Fun Stampers Journey Color Burst Pencils.

For this card, I stamped my Lovely Day stamp with Summer Days inkpad to give it a no line look.  I then started playing with my Color Burst pencils and came up with a Color Swatch #2 that I am calling Summer Sunflowers.  For this color I used pencils, 16,15, and 38.  I used this combo to color the petals of my flower.

The stem was colored with Color Swatch #3, that I am calling Grass, using pencils 18, 22, and 23.

The flower centers are colored with pencils 39 and 41.  I shaded the image using pencil 34.

Thank you for stopping by,
~Cindy~

Just Because

Hello Creative Friends,

It's been a wild and crazy week in my house,  a team meeting, my regular Wednesday class and a Christmas Stamp a stack, so today I took a break and colored a new stamp I received in the mail.

I really enjoy getting a stamp set that is reasonably priced, fun to color, and can be used for most occasions.  The Just Because ATS (artist trading stamp) fits all of the above list and I do not know why it has taken me so long to grab it.

As I sat down to color the flower image, it struck me that I had not started making swatches for my Color Burst pencils.  I have swatches for most of my other coloring mediums, but did not have them for my fabulous Color Burst pencils.... yes there are suggestions on the lid for Fun Stampers Journey's 44 colors, but I wanted ones that covered the whole spectrum of colors.  So I have begun making  color swatches using the Color Burst. Now that I have begun, I will try and bring you color swatches on a regular basis.
Here is my first swatch, I called it Sour Grape.

Thanks for stopping by,
Cindy

Holiday Sparkle card

Hello Creative friends!
Today I wanted to share a card I created for my Wednesday cards group.  I used the Holiday Sparkle Bundle for the focal point.  The Holiday Sparkle set is the same set I used last week for the Holly watercolor card.  This set also has a super cutie patootie Candy Cane that I plan on using for my Christmas Cards this year.  If you  love this set as much as I do, make sure you order it before the end of September, because after that, it is gone.

Don't you just love all the bling in it?  FSJ's Brushed Silver cardstock is to die for!  and don't get me started on our sequin trim... Love it, want it, got to have it!

Here is a video of how I made it.

I have listed all of the products below so you can recreate this card for your family and friends!

Ghostly Treats

Hello Creative Friends.  Today I am sharing a card I created for my Wednesday class.  If you are in the Southern Maryland Area and wish to attend, leave me a comment so I can pm you and get your email!

Don't you just love this little Pumpkin guy from the Ghostly Treats Bundle ?  You  can make him as scary or sweet as you like.  Today, I chose to make him sweet!  I colored him using FSJ Journey Color Burst pencils.  These are the colors I used:  03,13,14,16,21,22,28,35,40,41,43, and48.

I had planned to make my card a telescoping card, but silly me put it together wrong... oops!  So instead I used my Brayer (it's on sale this month)to add some Pumpkin Bread ink to my card base.  After I added the color, I die cut the Spider Web die and glued it in the center of my base.  Can you see the sparkle?!!!  You know I have to add Journey glaze and Sparkle Dust to everything!

Thanks for stopping by, and have an Amazing Day,
~Cindy~

Candy Monster

Hello Creative Friends!  I am back from a long summer of working on our house and taking our youngest, Austin, to college.  Austin  is now a proud member of the Texas A&M Corp of Cadets.  Here he is with his roommate enjoying a much need evening away from his upperclass men.  Austin is on the right.

Now, that I have shared the proud mamma picture, I will take you onto the good stuff...  A Halloween card!

This cute little guy is from the fun Holiday Trends Mini.  You are able to order from this Mini Trends catalog until September 30, then these items are gone.

I stamped the "Candy Monster" BD-0161 in Whip Cream CS and used my "Color Burst" pencils  JM -0077 to color him.  Don't you just live the striped paper- it is from the "Spooky Prints pack" PP-0035 also available in the Holiday Trends mini, make sure you grab it before it's gone!

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend!

Wondering where I have been?....

Hello Creative Friends.
I thought I should probably stop in and leave a note for those who have been wondering where I have been.
This summer has been crazy!  First my youngest graduated from high school.  We had family in from out of state and totally enjoyed the visit!

After that I was off to Phoenix for the Fun Stampers Journey "Celebrate You" convention!   Love all of the new stamps and other products I came home with.  I have played with a few things but my craft room has been idle for the past few weeks.
Right now I am currently doing a complete house hold spruce up, fun things like painting the deck and deep cleaning.  Why?  Well it is time to put the house on the market!!!  Whoo Hoo!  I will be moving about an hour from where I am now.  Close enough to to stay in touch with Southern Maryland, but also a new area with new creative opportunity.

I am also finishing up those last minute things to get my youngest off to college.  This week's fun task is wisdom teeth.  I promised him I wouldn't do a video, so unless he gives me some witty banter, I won't have anything fun to share.

When I am able to spend time in my craft room, I will be posting pictures over on my Facebook page, Cindy's Creative Journey.
Have an Amazing Day!

Going Places Light House Album

Hello Creative Friends.  Saturday I had the pleasure of vending at the Calvert County Lion Club Crop.  The Lions Club here in Calvert county is a wonderful group of guys and gals who in my opinion put on the best crop here in Southern Maryland.  They unload all of your goodies in the morning and reload your things in the evening!!!  And wait, they provide 2 meals, drinks and snacks, what more could you want?!!!

Aside from setting up my FSJ table, I also taught a class.  Everyone loved this cute chipboard album created using the fun Nautical Adventure Prints paper pack out of the Spring into Summer Mini.

I also used the Anchor Me stamp set for embellishments.  Check out the star die cut from the Border Details die set.  Aren't they just so stinking cute?!!

We made a few more embellishments using the Nautical Sketch stamp set also.  Everyone loved this book and I will be bagging up more kits just as soon as my Nautical Adventure Prints paper packs come in!

Thanks for stopping by,
-Cindy~

You are Awesome!

Hello Creative Friends.
Today's post is about all those people who touch our lives everyday.  We often get so busy in our day to day lives that we forget how blessed we are.  We are surrounded by people who care for us.  For some it is our families, for others it is friends and other people we meet in our daily activities.

I created this card to drop in my husbands lunch box because I forget to tell him how incredibly awesome he is.  I know he will get a kick out of it because he sees me making cards all the times and comments about how come he never gets a hand made card, so surprise honey, You're Awesome!

Who could you surprise with a handmade card telling them just what they mean to you?  I challenge you to pick one person and create a card to send to them.  Let me know what their reaction is.

Summer Blooms

Hello Creative Friends.
I think the sun is finally going to come out here in Southern Maryland!!! After over 14 days with rain, I am very excited about it, Whoo Hoo!!!
Today's card is bright a cheery just like sunshine.

I had a few kits left over from my Wednesday Make it Mini Party, so I put them to good use and make swaps for convention.  Isn't the layout fun?  It was one of the card layouts from May's Bloom Box.  That's what I love about getting the Bloom Box every month, not only do I get a brand new stamp set every month, it gives me great layouts ideas also!

I switched out the stamp set and used the "Summer Garden" set.  Who doesn't love a rose?  Along with using the layout, I also used the same re-inker colors to color my flowers.  Check out the Silver Silk drops, to me they just add that something extra to the card.

Thanks for stopping by!

Can You Case It Challenge #119

Hello Creative Friends.
It's been a crazy week at my house, lots of appointments and a frenzy of activity getting ready for my son's high school graduation.  It feels so good to be able to sit and create.
The card I'm sharing today is for a challenge over on the Can You Case it Blog.  This week's challenge was to use Gold, White and Dark Blue in a card.

I embossed the smallest Dahlia from the "Dahlia Burst" set in gold randomly on a sheet of Whip Cream cardstock.  I stamped and embossed an extra one to fancy cut also.

I colored all of the images using Fun Stampers  Journey Re-inkers and Fusion Blender. I fancy cut the extra flower and popped it up over the center flower.  Next I sponged gold ink into the remaining white cardstock.

I layered the stamped cardstock into  Denim Days cardstock and added a strip of Catalina Splash ribbon wrapped with Journey Gold  Thread. I edged a tag with gold embossing and stamped You are wonderful on it.  The sentiment is from the "Text Happy" set.

Thanks for stopping by!
