Pretty Flakes

Hello Creative Friends.

Today's Christmas card is made with non-traditional colors.  I chose to use River Stone, Candy Apple, Oatmeal Cookie, and Whip Cream cardstock.  I just love how all of these colors work together.

The other thing that I love about this card is all the glittery goodness.  I used my white liner sheet on the Oatmeal cookie circle, dipped it into Sparkle Dust to use as a background for the largest snowflake.  All of the snowflakes are covered with Journey Glaze and given a dusting of Sparkle Dust.

Thanks for stopping by,
~Cindy~

Herald Angels

Hello Creative Friends.

I love when a stamp set can be used to make a simple but elegant card.  The Herald Angels stamp set is one of those sets.  When I first saw this set in the catalog I just had to have it!  I had visions of coloring the angels and sending out 100's of beautiful Christmas cards... then reality hit and I realized there was no way I could color that many cards and have them ready in time.  So I reworked my idea and came up with this elegant card.

The background is done using the darker of the blues from the Mother Nature Pan Pastel set.  I just used a sponge and swept the color on.  Then I took my Clear Embossing Ink pad and stamped the sentiment in the corner, covered it with Silver Embossing powder and zapped it with my heat gun.  On a separate piece of Whip Cream Cardstock, I stamped one of the angels in Clear Pigment ink, covered her with the Silver Embossing powder, zapped her and used the matching die to cut her out.  I love the fact that FSJ has so many stamp sets with matching dies!  I lightly colored her dress with the same blue Pan Pastel, hit her wings with the Silver Pan Pastel and popped her on the card.  Simple enough to repeat but very elegant looking.

~Cindy~

Christmas Trim

Hello Creative Friends.

I have another quick Christmas card to share today.  This one is made with the Christmas Trim stamp set that is available until December 31 while supplies last.

I started by taking a piece of Whip Cream cardstock and using the green out of the Rich Sorbet Pan Pastels, gentle swiped my cardstock with the green.  I added more of the color to the top of the piece of cardstock.  Next I stamped the tree with Black licorice ink and colored the trim with my Color Burst pencil # 3.  I then cut the tree out.

I used my Oval dies and cut a piece of my patterned paper from the Tis the Season paper pack.   The sparkly light effect in the background is made with Silver Silk.  Silks add just the right amount of glitz to any project!

Bethlehem Journey

Hello Creative Friends.
I am so glad that they brought back the Bethlehem Journey stamp set!  I hosted a stamp a stack at my house last week and this was one of the cards we created.

The background was shaded in using the Confectionary Days collection of Pan Pastels to give it a distant hazy look.    Mary and Joseph are colored with Color Burst pencils.  These are the Pencils I used to color them, 22, 23, 26, 37, 39, 42, and 43.    I fancy cut around them and popped them out to give it dimension.

Thanks for stopping by!

Lovely Day

Hello Creative Friends.

Today I want to share a few more Color Swatches for the Fun Stampers Journey Color Burst Pencils.

For this card, I stamped my Lovely Day stamp with Summer Days inkpad to give it a no line look.  I then started playing with my Color Burst pencils and came up with a Color Swatch #2 that I am calling Summer Sunflowers.  For this color I used pencils, 16,15, and 38.  I used this combo to color the petals of my flower.

The stem was colored with Color Swatch #3, that I am calling Grass, using pencils 18, 22, and 23.

The flower centers are colored with pencils 39 and 41.  I shaded the image using pencil 34.

Thank you for stopping by,
~Cindy~

Just Because

Hello Creative Friends,

It's been a wild and crazy week in my house,  a team meeting, my regular Wednesday class and a Christmas Stamp a stack, so today I took a break and colored a new stamp I received in the mail.

I really enjoy getting a stamp set that is reasonably priced, fun to color, and can be used for most occasions.  The Just Because ATS (artist trading stamp) fits all of the above list and I do not know why it has taken me so long to grab it.

As I sat down to color the flower image, it struck me that I had not started making swatches for my Color Burst pencils.  I have swatches for most of my other coloring mediums, but did not have them for my fabulous Color Burst pencils.... yes there are suggestions on the lid for Fun Stampers Journey's 44 colors, but I wanted ones that covered the whole spectrum of colors.  So I have begun making  color swatches using the Color Burst. Now that I have begun, I will try and bring you color swatches on a regular basis.
Here is my first swatch, I called it Sour Grape.

Thanks for stopping by,
Cindy

Beach Soiree

Hello Creative Friends.

Today's card is a nautical card that can be used for any occasion.  Some might even call it a masculine card...:)  I designed it with retired paper and scraps, so in other words, I was clearing off my desk!

Without further ado, I present my card.

I made a video showing how I put the card together along with how I colored the Beach Soiree images.  The Color Burst Pencils I used are:  028, 035, 039, & 048.  You can find the video here:
