You do You Junk Album, inside cover and flip out with Cindy Bristow

You do You Junk Album
inside cover and flip out
with Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

I wanted to show you the inside cover and the flip out page from the You be You Mini Junk album I have been working on.
I did not cover the inside of the Album cover, because the color was so unique and neutral that it works with almost all colors.  I did however, add a flap to the first page of the mini album to give me a bit more space to add pictures and other goodies to!

I added a few pieces of ephemera  from a few different packs to the inside cover.  I used the Heidi Swapp pack I told you about yesterday for the brown library card and the heart.  I think the flower might have come from that same pack.  The word came from a Prima pack, called Pretty Pale Collection -Ephemera2.

The flap page was covered with a retired FSJ patterned paper and then embellished with cardstock and a few die cuts from the Kaisercraft Gypsy Rose die cut pieces pack.    All of the little saying on the tabs come from a pack of Prima embellishments called Lavender Frost collection- Ephemera.  I love how all of the different things mix and blend so well together.

This is a picture of the inside of the flap and page once it is opened.  I used different patterned papers from FSJ for all of the pages.

On the left, I used a piece of lace from FSJ, the background rectangle is from the Prima Pretty Pale ephemera pack, and the flower is from the KaiserCraft Gypsy Rose pack.  The cute frame and the polka dot heart on the right came from the Heidi Swapp Hawthorn pack.  Sentiment is from the Kaiser Craft Gypsy Rose pack.

You Do You Mini Junk Album with Cindy Bristow

You Do You Mini Junk Album
with Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

Today I wanted to share the cover of a mini junk album I have been working on.

I've been seeing junk albums pop up in my Pinterest and Instagram feeds for awhile, so I decided I would give it a try.  Junk Albums are a mix between scrapbooking and journaling... with a bit of hoarding involved, which fits my crafty style just right!  I get to use all of those pretty things I collect and save memories and thoughts all in one place.
A lot of junk journals are made with scrap paper and memorabilia, but I decided to use a Mini Book I had in my stash for my first attempt.

I covered the outside with patterned paper I had been hoarding for a few years.  I did the same with the inside, but I will save that for another day.

Here is a close up of the decorations I used on my cover.
I love the"You do You" sentiment I found in the Heidi Swapp Hawthorne Ephemera I grabbed from Scrapbook .com. I also used a bit of this Guilded Life lace trim under the paper flowers.  I used gesso and Ink on the flowers to change the color from blue to Pretty Amethyst.  The other goodies I used are from my stash and are no longer available, but I am sure you have something in your stash that you could substitute!

Stay tuned for more peeks of the inside!

Cindy

Art Angel 5x7 Canvas with Cindy Bristow

Art Angel 5x7 Canvas
with Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

Today I wanted to share a 5x7 flat board canvas I have been working on.  I have titled it Art Angel because I think she is watching over all of us who love to create.

Isn't she beautiful?!!  and no joke, she was pretty easy to create!  I started out with a 5x7 canvas board and covered it with scraps of patterned paper ( remember when I said I was using up my stash?).  Then I painted the over the patterned paper with Gesso, and added texture by splatting my paint brush on top of the Gesso.  You can see the texture this created in the next picture.  The next step was to pull out my Jane Davenport Flower Girls stencil.  There are 3 different faces to choose from and a ton of different flowers, but I just used the face for this canvas.

I laid the stencil onto my canvas and used Oatmeal Cookie Ink and a large Dauber to create the face.  I heat set the ink, just to be sure it was dry because I didn't want it smudging once I started using my Color Splash pencils on it.  I colored her face, and them hand drew the wings, hair and stencil by looking at pictures of angels on Pinterest.   I love using Pinterest to get inspiration and ideas.
These are the Color Splash pencils numbers I used on my canvas:
1,3,5,7,8,9,12,14,21,27,34,38,39,40,41,42,43,&44

Colored Pencil Dahlia Burst Card with Cindy Bristow

Colored Pencil Dahlia Burst Card
with Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

I'm back from my stay with my father, he is doing well and back to his old self.

Today I would like to share a card I colored using my Color Burst pencils.

I started by stamping the largest flower from the Dahlia Burst set with Black Licorice ink onto Whip Cream cardstock.  Then I created a mask by stamping it again on a piece of scrap paper.  After I cut around the image, I placed it on top of my the large flower on my card front.  Then I stamped the two smaller flowers to the left and right of the big flower.  I created a mask for the smaller flower also.  I made sure my mask where in place before I stamped the leaf image onto my card front.  Now it was time to color!

I decided that my light source was coming from the top left of the image, so I knew where to put the highlights and the shadows.  I used the following pencils to color my flowers:  29, 18, 16, 8, 11, 5, 10,4,1,and 3.

I finished my card by adding Black Licorice and Citrus Cooler Silks.  I also added 3 of the Magical Journey dots to a strip of Black Licorice cardstock.  The image is layered onto a Black Licorice cardstock  mat and then adhered to a Rich Coral card base.
