Happy Mail Monday 5/22

Hello Creative Friends!
I woke up today in a motivated mood, got my to-do list written, and now I'm checking things off!  Whoo Hoo!!! Don't you love when you wake up like that?
So, one of the first things on my Monday list is also one of the best things on my list, Happy Mail Monday post!  Make sure you leave a comment either here on my blog, on Instagram (CindysCreativeJourney), or on my Face Book page (@ccreativejourney).

I tried out a fun technique RG showed us using the Rich Sorbet Pan Pastels.  I also used the darkest green from this set of Mother Nature Pan Pastels .  I covered the piece of Whip Cream cardstock with the Summer Days Pan Pastel, then I added the Kiwi Slice Pan Pastels and the Fresh Forest Pan Pastels to create that cool background.  To set the Pan Pastels, I sprayed it with aerosol hair spray.  I also used the Kiwi Slice Pan Pastel on a smaller scrap of Whip Cream.  I stamped the smallest turtle from the Turtley Awesome Bundle onto the smaller scrap with Black Licorice ink.  Then I also stamped the sea weed onto the larger piece of cardstock to create the background for my card.  The Hi There sentiment is stamped with Black Licorice onto a Vellum Circle and then layered onto a Summer Days Circle.

You gotta love our Silks!!! They add the perfect touch to your cards.  Here I used both the Gold Silk and the brand new Sparkle Silk on  the background.  I also painted it onto my turtle.  The gems are called Sea Stones, and you better grab 2 packages because you are going to love them that much!

Make sure to leave a comment to be entered into the Happy Mail Monday card, if your name is drawn, you can choose to send this card to a friend, or yourself!

Starry Night with Pan Pastels

Hello creative friends!  Happy 2017!!!  Today I am sharing another card I made using my Pan Pastels and the Northern Lights Technique.  Don't you just love how it looks like you are gazing into the night sky?

The technique is actually quite simple and gives a wonderful effect.  I started by stamping my Starry Night background stamp with Whip Cream ink and embossing it with Journey White embossing powder.  After that I grabbed my Lemon Drop Pan Pastel and created three spots in the page.  Then I added Sweet Berry Pan Pastel and blended the edges together.  The next color I added was Pretty Pansy followed by Huckleberry Fusion and Denim Days.  It is really amazing watching the background come to life and the exciting thing is that no two skies will ever look the same!

Once I was satisfied with the sky, I flicked some Silver Silk onto it. You know I have to have all of that shimmery goodness!  The sentiment comes from the Star Bright set and fits perfectly with this card.

Thank you for dropping by and checking out my Starry Night card.  If you would like to recreate this card, I have listed the links for the products I used below.

Make it an Adventure with PanPastels

Hello creative friends!  I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas full of festivities and love.  Are you getting ready for the New Year?  I know that I am...  2017 is starting with the selling of my home, the Fun Stampers Journey "Lead with Heart" conference, and them packing and moving to Virginia!!!! So, this card says it all, Make it an Adventure!

I have had my PanPastels for almost 6 months and have not shown them the love the deserve.  To remedy that, I pulled them out this morning and gave them some much needed love!!

If you haven't gotten any of these yet, you sooooo need them!  They are so smooth and creamy and spread just like butter, and blend together beautifully.  These are the 2 sets I used on this card.

Mother Nature PanPastels

Party Pop PanPastels

I created the background using the blues from the Party Pop set and the olive green from Mother Nature set.  The dots are Orange Rave Silk, I can't get enough of our Silks, EVERYTHING is better with Silk!  See the variegation on the sea weed?.... can you say eraser?!!!  Yes, you can erase PanPastels to create depth!!!  You would have thought?!!!

Sooooo, I hope each and everyone of you have a Happy New Year, and to choose to look at 2017 as a new Adventure!

Have and Amazing Day!

Herald Angels

Hello Creative Friends.

I love when a stamp set can be used to make a simple but elegant card.  The Herald Angels stamp set is one of those sets.  When I first saw this set in the catalog I just had to have it!  I had visions of coloring the angels and sending out 100's of beautiful Christmas cards... then reality hit and I realized there was no way I could color that many cards and have them ready in time.  So I reworked my idea and came up with this elegant card.

The background is done using the darker of the blues from the Mother Nature Pan Pastel set.  I just used a sponge and swept the color on.  Then I took my Clear Embossing Ink pad and stamped the sentiment in the corner, covered it with Silver Embossing powder and zapped it with my heat gun.  On a separate piece of Whip Cream Cardstock, I stamped one of the angels in Clear Pigment ink, covered her with the Silver Embossing powder, zapped her and used the matching die to cut her out.  I love the fact that FSJ has so many stamp sets with matching dies!  I lightly colored her dress with the same blue Pan Pastel, hit her wings with the Silver Pan Pastel and popped her on the card.  Simple enough to repeat but very elegant looking.

~Cindy~
