with Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

I've had this set sitting on my desk for a few weeks trying to find the time to work it into my creative rotation and today is the day!

I think I am in love! I gold embossed the largest pumpkin onto a Splash sheet and then used my Color Splash pencils to watercolor with.  These are the pencil number's I used:  3, 12, 13, 14, 21, 25, 39, 40, and 41.  I also flicked some Gold Silk onto it at the end.

Lighthouse 1 embellishment pack by Cindy Bristow

Lighthouse 1 embellishment pack
by Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

A few weeks ago I shared that I have been working on embellishment packs for a friend of mine who vends at crops up on the east coast.  She told me that a few of her customers where looking for lighthouse embellishments to use on their scrapbook pages.  Today I am sharing the first in a series of embellishment packs I came up with.

I love the nautical feel of this striped patterned paper I used on the lighthouse, seagull circle and the tag.

I used the AccuCut Lighthouse Album builder to die cut the lighthouse, waves, sun and seagulls.
Here is an ingredient list for FSJ products:

Patterned paper is from the retired Nautical Adventure Pack.

Embellishment pack is available in my Etsy store.

Santa in Bunny Slippers by Cindy Bristow

Santa in Bunny Slippers
by Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend.  We had a busy and productive weekend here at the Bristow house.  Friday evening we went to 2 different Halloween events to judge costumes, a kids carnival and adult Halloween costume party.  I have to admit, it was hard to pick favorites, all of the costumes where great!  Saturday and Sunday where spent working on the house. Two long days where you can't see a lot of the progress because most of it was electrical, but we have moved the kitchen door to the garage over about 4 feet to make room for a refrigerator.  Ok, enough about the weekend and on to the creative fun.

Today's share is a Christmas card using another one of the Santa's from the Art Gone Wild set Santa Cube.

Check out those Bunny Slippers!  I paired him with the FSJ Santa Approved AT-0341 set for a fun card.

Here are the FSJ ingredients and dimensions for my card:

Candy Apple cardstock   8-1/2 x 5-1/2
Whip Cream cardstock  4-3/4 x 3-1/2

Finished Card Available in my Etsy Store.

Unicorns and Rainbows Embellishments with Cindy Bristow

Unicorns and Rainbows Embellishments
with Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

Today's share is a fun embellishment pack all about Unicorns and Rainbows.  I mean, who doesn't wish they lived in a world with Unicorns?

I used the Magical Unicorn Stamp set from FSJ to make the cute Unicorn and Rainbow embellishments. The Unicorn cake was created with a Accucut steel rule die and FSJ cardstock and papers.
All three of these pieces would be stinking cute on a scrapbook layout for a birthday party.  The Unicorn and rainbow would be perfect for a card.

Here are the FSJ ingredients I used for this embellishment pack:

Watercolor Fall Leaves card with Cindy Bristow

Watercolor Fall Leaves card with Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

I am enjoying my second cup of coffee this morning and thinking about how blessed I am, I mean really, I get to create pretty things all day!

Today I wanted to share a watercolor card that I created last week.

I used one of the leaves from  the FSJ stamp set Autumn Leaves, SS-0006.  I started by stamping the first leaf in the center of my Color Splash sheet with Clear Embossing Ink and added Journey Gold embossing powder.  After I heat set it, I stamped the outside leaves and added embossing powder and heat set.  When stamping an image 3 times, always start with the middle image so you can space the outside images the same distance from the middle one.
After heat embossing, I grabbed my Journey Color Splash pencils (these are the watercolor ones) and pulled out a green, aqua, blue, a couple of yellows and a red.  I started with the leaves by painting the leaf with plain old water ( this helps the color move) and then used my water brush to pick up the color straight from my pencil lead and drop it into the leaf.
Once all the leaves where done and dry, I started playing with my background.  I put down a layer of water, added the lightest yellow, let it dry and then repeated the step with the darker yellow and then the red.  To finish the panel, I flicked some of the blue watercolor onto the background.

Here are the FSJ ingredients and dimensions for my card:

Autumn Days Stamp set  SS-0006
Journey Color Splash Pencils  JM-0078
Journey Gold Embossing Powder
Journey Color Splash Sheet 4-3/4 x 3-1/2
Denim Days cardstock  4-7/8 x 3-5/8
Whip Cream cardstock base 5-1/2 x 8-1/2
Clear Embossing inkpad

Christmas Magic with Cindy Bristow

Christmas Magic with Cindy Bristow

Howdy!
Today I am sharing a Christmas card I made using this stinking cute little Santa image from Art gone Wild.  The set is called Santa Cube.

I combined it with a sentiment from Fun Stampers Journey's Christmas Magic set.  I just love this saying and it reminds me to stop and remember that the Christmas season is all about magic.

After I stamped my Santa image onto Whip Cream cardstock, I colored it with my Color Burst Pencils.  I used pencil numbers 8, 5, 2, 22, 44, and 33.

I added some fun washi tape under the sentiment, don't you love the sparkle?

Here are the FSJ ingredients and dimensions for my card:

Christmas Magic AT-0311
Journey Color Burst Pencils JM-0077
Candy Apple Journey Tape AC-0309
Fresh Limeade Journey Tape AC-0311
Candy Apple cardstock base  5-1/2 x 8-1/2

Christmas Sprig take 2 with Cindy Bristow

Christmas Sprig Take Two
with Cindy Bristow
Howdy!
On Wednesdays I have my Coloring Your Creative Journey online class.  This month's featured stamp set to go along with our Color Swatches is the Christmas Sprig stamp (AT-0293).
This week our featured Color Swatches where Frosted Sugar Plum, Frosted Mauve and Iced Sage.

This color combo lends its self to a non- traditional color scheme.  I love how the purple undertones in the Frosted Sugar Plum and Frosted Mauve coordinate with Pretty Amethyst and Lavender Fusion.

Whip Cream cardstock 4-1/2 x 3-1/4
Pretty Amethyst cardstock 4-3/8 x 3-3/8
Patterned Paper 4 x 5-1/4

Watercolor Autumn Days Card with Cindy Bristow

Watercolor Autumn Days with Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

It's cool and cloudy here in South Texas and I am moving at the rate of a slug.  I am going to blame it on the weather because it is not due to lack of caffeine.  I am enjoying my second cup of coffee and might even help myself to another once this one is finished.

Remember last week when I said I was going to be using some of my forgotten stash?  Well that is just what I did this morning.  I grabbed my Color Splash pencils and my much loved Autumn Days stamp set (SS-0006).  Autumn Days is one of my all time favorite stamp sets, even though it has Autumn in the title, I use it all year round.

I only used 2 of the leaves from the set and stamped them with Clear Embossing ink onto a Color Splash Sheet, sprinkled them with Gold embossing powder and heat set them with my Heat Tool.  Then I pulled out my Color Splash pencils and Blending brush.

After I finished watercoloring the image, I sprinkled it with Gold Silk and Cranberry Bliss silk.  The embellishment over on the right is made with (3) 1/8 inch strips of Raspberry Berry cardstock, a gold piece of Bloom-fetti ( I finally found a use for that stuff) and then topped of with a red gem from my Rainbow Drops.

Here are the dimensions for my card:

Color Splash Sheet:  3-3/4 x 5
Raspberry Berry cardstock 3-7/8 x 5-1/8
Oatmeal Cookie cardstock base 5-1/2 x 8-1/2

Christmas Sprig with Cindy Bristow

Christmas Sprig with Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

Cooler weather swept into South Texas yesterday making it feel like fall.  With the weather feeling cooler, I broke out some of my holiday stamps to start my Christmas cards.  Today I wanted to share one that I made using my Color Burst pencils and the Christmas Sprig stamp set (AT-0293)

Don't you just love the color scheme?  This color scheme is from my Coloring your Creative Journey class for October.  The Color Burst swatch colors are called Frozen Cranberry, Frosted Mauve, and Iced Sage.  I am loving the softer tones we are using this month.

Here are the dimensions for my card:

Whip Cream cardstock  4 1/2 x 3 1/4
Raspberry Berry  4 3/8 x 3 1/8
Bubble Gum 4-3/4 x 3 1/2
Fresh Sage card base 5 1/2 x 4 1/4

I finished it off with a little Journey Glaze, a sprinkle of Sparkle Dust and a few taps of Bubble Gum Silk.

Watercolor Peach Blossom with Cindy Bristow

Watercolor Peach Blossom with Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

It's Friday morning, I have had 2 plus cups of coffee and life is good.

Yesterday I told you that I was vowing to use some of my forgotten product and I am doing it!!!  I wanted to share the card I made this morning using my Color Splash pencils and my Peach Blossom stamp set (SS-0342).

I know I have told my Coloring your Creative Journey class that I love to use Pinterest to find new color schemes, but I also love to use it to find info on techniques.  Last night I looked up watercolor cards and blew my mind!  This card is using the resist technique.  I stamped the bottom flower and leaves with Sweet Berry and Green Olive ink.  Then I pulled out the Whip Cream pigment ink and White embossing powder to stamp the top flower.  When you are stamping white on white, it's hard to see exactly where your image is... in my opinion, I should have stamped that top flower more to the right for a better balance.

I really like the results I got with the resist method. Notice on the top flower (the resist image) how the color has pooled in some of the detail lines?  I think it adds more interest to the flower.  I tried to recreate that with the bottom flower, but the results just aren't as stunning.

Dimensions for my card are:
Color Splash Sheet  3-1/2 x 4-3/4
Sweet Berry cardstock  3-5/8 x 4-7/8
Black Licorice cardstock  3-3/4 x 5
Whip Cream cardstock base 4-1/4 x 11

Watercolor Poppies with Cindy Bristow

Watercolor Poppies with Cindy Bristow

Howdy!

It's been a great morning here in South Texas, the sky is clear and the temperature is a lovely 76.  The mosquitos on the other hand are way out of control!!!!  I wonder if anyone makes a mosquito stamp set?.....

Do you ever buy something and then it just sits there?  I mean you just had to have it,  you played with it a few times, but then it gets put away or buried?  I do it all the time and I have vowed that I am going to start showing some of my forgotten crafty toys some much needed love.

One of the toys I need to show some love to is my Journey Color Splash pencils- those are the watercolor ones.  I just had to have them, and in fact, I have multiple sets... and they are all in a drawer.  So today, I pulled them out along with a stamp set that I haven't used in a long time, Poppy Days (SS-0346).

I stamped the flowers with Black Licorice on a Color Splash sheet making sure to leave a space for the sentiment.  The sentiment comes form the Chosen Family stamp set (SS-0458).

Now, remember that I haven't been watercoloring on a regular basis, so this was a relearning time for me.  The first thing I did was use a media mister to wet my splash sheet a bit.  This helps the watercolors move around a bit.  I then used a blending brush filled with water directly onto the tip of my pencil and dropped some color onto my flower images.  Because the splash sheet is wet, you can move the color around and fill in the images. It's ok if you go outside the lines... it is watercolor.

After I finished watercoloring, I dried the panel with my heat gun.  The splash panel was layered onto Black Licorice cardstock.  I wrapped black velvet ribbon around a Whip Cream cardstock panel and popped it up on a Whip Cream card base.

That's it- a simple and elegant card.

Inspiration, where does it come from? with FSJ Build a Wreath

Howdy Friends!  What's your morning routine like?  If it's like mine, it starts with coffee and then you sit down at your computer to check your email.  That my friends is where the inspiration for today's card came from!

This card was inspired by an email from Hobby Lobby, I'm sure you all got the same one- here is the picture I took a screen shot of.  You know- the way we all wish our house looked- especially me right now.... but I digress....

so, as I was sipping my coffee, I was dissecting the above picture and started thinking about creating a card.  After a full cup of coffee and a refill to go, I moved to my craft room and grabbed some cardstock to match the color scheme.  I pulled out Fresh Sage cardstock, Oatmeal Cookie cardstock, Hazelnut Blend cardstock, Buttercream cardstock, and to add some texture, a little sliver of my favorite, Corrugated Stock cardstock.  After I had matched the color scheme, I started looking at the design elements of the room.  I noticed the giant wood leaf ,the framed picture on the shelf, the scroll trim on the shelf and the clothes pins.  A few minutes of digging through stamps, and I grabbed my Build A Wreath stamp set SS-0598.

I stamped the wreath using Fresh Sage ink and colored it in with Color Burst Pencils numbers 23, 27, and 25.  To complete my card, I used some vintage lace to mimic the scroll trim on the inspiration picture, added a Mini Wooden Clothespin with a double twine bow, and last added a sprinkle of Dark Roast Silk

Don't forget about the Block Party Sale!

20% off all Acrylic Blocks the entire month of October
