If you are new to the junk journaling idea, your probably asking yourself what a doily flip , or any flip for that matter is. In the journaling world, a flip is a place where you can stash stuff in your journal. Tags, ephemera, journaling spots... just about anything.
Let's get started by gathering our supplies for today's project. You will need a coffee stained doily ( I grabbed by doilies at Walmart and stained them all at once), a 2" circle, and a 1 3/4" circle. My circles are punched from scrapbook paper and a old book page. You will also need your Vintage Photo ink pad, glue and some type of flower/embellishment ( I am using a ribbon flower I found on clearance at Hobby Lobby)
Start by inking you edges on the doily and the 2 circles. Then you will center the circles in the doily and glue them down.
Next I took my Bone Folder and creased the doily in the middle. If you are using a book page or another paper that needs to be in a certain direction, make sure you crease it the right way.
Now you are going to turn the doily over and find your crease mark. Place marks 1/4" on either side of your center.
These lines will be used as guides for your glue once you are ready to glue your doily flip into your journal.
Now you can place your doily flip into your journal. I have used a large paper clip to secure it until I am ready to glue my pages down.
By creating a full doily flip, you are able to have a flip on both the front and back of a page. Once you are ready to glue your pages down, add the glue only inside the marked lines so that the rest of the doily is free to stash goodies in.
As you can see, I added one of the ribbon roses to one side of my doily. You can embellish yours in multiple ways.
Make a few of these to add through out your journal.
Thanks for stopping by,
Cindy
